From Office to River: Datakom Summer Teambuilding 2024 Adventure

What happens when you put an IT team on SUP boards and send them down a river?

In mid-August, the Datakom team stepped out of the office to experience something more than a typical team-building event – it turned into a true adventure.

This year’s main challenge was a SUP trip along the Roja River. For many, it was their first time on a board, and what initially seemed simple quickly became a real test. Balance, currents, unexpected turns – and yes, a few splashes into the water along the way.

Not everyone stayed dry, but everyone definitely left with a smile.

Some team members quickly mastered the basics, while others learned as they went. What mattered most was that no one faced the challenge alone. Encouragement, shared tips, and plenty of laughter helped us move forward together – step by step, paddle by paddle.

“The best part was being outside our usual environment and truly working together,” one team member shared.

After the river adventure, the team shifted gears and tried archery. This time, the challenge required focus, precision, and a steady hand. For some, it came naturally; for others, it was a new test – but the sense of excitement was shared by everyone.

This day was about more than just activities.

It was about:

And perhaps most importantly – about shared experiences that stay with us far longer than any regular workday.

We didn’t just return with new skills and memories.

We came back as a stronger team.
